Can I use Invoice2go on a Network?

Yes, Invoice2go can be networked so that multiple computers can access the same information.

You will need a license for each computer you are installing Invoice2go onto. Please see our FAQ article Can I use Invoice2go on more than 1 Computer? for more information.

Using Invoice2go on a network does not require any special drivers or special versions of the Invoice2go. All you need to do is create a Shared Folder and then point each computer to the shared folder.

Step 1 - Set up a Shared Folder for networking Invoice2go

Open Invoice2go and click on Company -> Manage Companies. Listed beside your company name is the Folder Path. This is where your files are saved on your computer. Take a note of this location.

Open My Computer and browse to the working folder location. Right click on the "Working" folder and select Properties. Go to the Sharing Tab and enable Sharing.

  • Windows XP Users, click here to learn how to Share Folders on Windows XP.

Step 2 - Point each workstation to the Shared Folder

Now that the Company Working Files are shared, you need to point each workstation to the shared network folder using the Map Network Drive tool. The easiest way to do this is to open My Computer and choose Tools -> Map Network Drive from the Tools menu.

Select a Drive letter from the list and then specify the path to the shared Folder by typing it or by using the Browse button. (On each workstation map the same drive letter to the Shared Folder as a common reference.) Tick the Reconnect at Login check box and click Finish.

On each workstation Start Invoice2go and open the Company menu and choose Manage Companies. Click the Add Link button and select the Network Drive you just mapped to and click OK.

If you have other companies, you can now remove the other company links by selecting each one and clicking the Remove Link button. When there is only one company listed in the Manage Companies dialog box, Invoice2go automatically opens that company on startup.

Restart Invoice2go to apply the changes and access the company files stored on the network drive.

If the computers are not on the same local network you will need to speak to your own technical support to implement a VPN link between each site.
